Walen Ngo is currently a Program Manager for the Department of Business, Management, & Legal Programs at UCLA Extension and has served in this role since December of 2013.  He is responsible for program implementation, budget management, and staff management and development.  Walen helps oversee a portfolio of 16 certificate programs and about 100 different courses, offering more than 400 course sections that generate over $4 million in revenue each year.  Walen graduated Cum Laude from UC, Irvine with dual B.A. degrees in Economics and International Studies.  While at UCLA, he has also completed the Level-One Supervisory Certificate and Management Development Certificate through the Campus Human Resources Training & Development Program.

Prior to his arrival to UCLA, Walen managed a young professionals donor affinity group and oversaw several financial assistance programs (such as a matched-savings program and a large network of free tax preparation sites) serving low-income families throughout LA County during his tenure at the United Way of Greater Los Angeles.  Walen continues to volunteer regularly at Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites throughout LA County during the tax season since 2008 and serves as a Project Leader/Task Captain for each of the last 3 years for the UCLA Volunteer Day.

When Walen served as Vice President of Programs for UCLA Staff Assembly, he leveraged his network of subject matter experts to expand on the topics covered at our Learn-at-Lunch events.  He is currently the President-Elect for UCLA Staff Assembly and aspires to continue building and strengthening the relationships amongst all departments at UCLA.
